Chappaqua, New York—June 25, 2018—CareMount Medical, the largest, independent multi-specialty medical group in New York State, is pleased to announce A. Garvey Rene, MD, FACC, FSCAI, Clinical and Interventional Cardiologist, has been named a 2018 recipient of the Business Council of Westchester’s “Rising Star 40 Under 40 Award.” The annual Rising Stars program is modeled after the national business recognition program “40 under 40.” Rising Stars honorees are chosen based on professional accomplishments, professional and business affiliations and demonstrated leadership skills.

Dr. Rene joined CareMount Medical’s Cardiology Department in 2017. He is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of a full-range of heart related illnesses and conditions. Dr. Rene specializes in preventative treatments to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events, treatment of coronary artery disease with coronary interventions, as well as the treatment of severe aortic stenosis with minimally invasive approaches using catheters. He is currently spearheading an interventional cardiology program at CareMount Medical with a focus on the invasive treatment of coronary and structural heart interventions.

Dr. Rene is board certified in interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, cardiovascular disease, and internal medicine. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Management from Johns Hopkins University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. Following his training, Dr. Rene went on to complete his general cardiology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the University of Pennsylvania.
He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including: American College of Cardiology, Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, American Heart Association and Caribbean Cardiac Society.
Dr. Rene resides in Westchester County with his wife, Tara Gilhooly Rene.
