Chappaqua, New York—August 5, 2020—CareMount Medical, P.C., the largest independent multi-specialty medical group in New York State, recently appointed Caroline DeFilippo, MD, MPH, FACP, as Associate Medical Director. In this capacity, Dr. DeFilippo is responsible for providing strategic insight, medical direction, and overseeing CareMount Medical’s physicians and group-wide initiatives in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Columbia, and Ulster Counties and New York City. Dr. DeFilippo joined CareMount Medical in 2018, serving most recently as Assistant Medical Director. She is also a practicing internist at CareMount Medical’s Mount Kisco office.

As Associate Medical Director, Dr. DeFilippo plays a key role in promoting patient-centered customer service, monitoring quality of clinical care, and cultivating the overall well-being and development of employees. She leads program development as a vital member of CareMount’s Next Generation Accountable Care Organization as well as its annual wellness visit (AWV) program for seniors. Dr. DeFilippo established, formalized, and continues to direct CareMount’s palliative care program in the outpatient setting. As part of this effort, she personally trained over 100 CareMount providers in communication skills and created important connections with key community members. Most recently, in partnership with The Commonwealth Fund, Dr. DeFilippo spoke on a national level about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on primary care.
Dr. DeFilippo is board certified in internal medicine. She graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies and Public Policy and completed Graduate Certificates in Environmental Studies and Public Policy from the University of Adelaide. She received her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed her residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. In June 2020, Dr. DeFilippo was named a recipient of the American College of Physicians’ I.M. Proud award which recognizes the essential role of internists and the internal medicine community.
Prior to joining CareMount Medical, Dr. DeFilippo was an internal medicine physician and the Associate Medical Director of Internal Medicine at Westmed Medical Group, where she was responsible for quality initiatives, recruitment and overall department success. From 2003 to 2005, Dr. DeFilippo was a Public Health Educator at Rockland County Department of Health where she oversaw the lead poisoning prevention, Lyme disease education, and asthma management programs.
