Dr. Andrew Garcia, ophthalmologist, knew at an early age that he wanted to be a physician. His interest in Ophthalmology began in medical school where he said he realized that “the eyes are the window to the body.” Dr. Garcia believes that the eyes can give us a sense of what else is going on in the body; signs of systemic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and thyroid disease can be identified through an eye exam.
Dr. Andrew Garcia recently joined the Ophthalmology Department at CareMount Medical in Manhattan, specializing in cataract surgery and management of glaucoma. Dr. Garcia is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He was awarded his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his internship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He went on to do his residency at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai and then his glaucoma Fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine.
Before joining CareMount, he practiced at Crystal Run HealthCare and Palisade Eye Associates in Jersey City, NJ. Dr. Garcia was drawn to CareMount Medical because it is a multispecialty medical practice offering an entire team of qualified physicians that delivers high quality care and a commitment to their patients. In his spare time he likes to explore everything Manhattan has to offer.
Dr. Garcia is affiliated with Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital.
