Fertility Testing and Diagnostics
Female fertility testing and diagnostics include a medical history, physical exam, hormonal blood tests (e.g. AMH), and ultrasound in order to gauge your current fertility level and inform your treatment plan. Additional imaging may also be needed, and if indicated, reproductive surgery may be performed prior to beginning fertility treatment. Male fertility testing typically begins with a semen analysis.
IUI & Low-Tech Fertility Treatments
Low-tech fertility treatments are minimally invasive, lower cost, and do not involve fertilization outside of the uterus. Treatments include the use of oral medications, such as Clomid, as well as natural and medicated intrauterine insemination (IUI).
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is an effective treatment for a variety of female and male causes of infertility. IVF involves retrieving eggs and sperm in order to create embryos in a laboratory setting, then placing the embryo into the uterus, with the goal of achieving pregnancy. IVF may be used in conjunction with embryo genetic testing in order to identify the healthiest embryo for transfer.
Egg Freezing & Fertility Preservation
Fertility preservation involves cryopreserving (freezing) eggs, sperm, or embryos for use in the future. Fertility preservation, such as egg freezing, may be pursued for personal reasons, such as wanting to focus on career, education, or other life goals, or for medical purposes, such as preserving fertility prior to undergoing cancer treatment.
Egg donation can help a variety of patients achieve their family-building goals, including women with impaired ovarian function, same-sex male couples, and single men. During an egg donation cycle, eggs from a donor and sperm from the male patient or sperm donor are combined in the laboratory. The resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus of the female patient or gestational carrier in order to achieve pregnancy.
