Symptoms and Conditions Treated

The Department of Neurosurgery specializes in treating disorders of the spine including:

  • complex, degenerative, scoliosis and tumor etiologies
  • neuro-oncology (brain tumors)
  • peripheral nerve (such as carpal tunnel)
  • functional (such as trigeminal neuralgia)
  • many congenital issues (pediatric)
  • treatments for dementia, including shunts

We work in close collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery at Columbia University for more complex neurosurgical disorders including cerebrovascular conditions, such as aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, and skull-based tumors.

Treatment and Services Offered

Our treatment options include:

  • open and minimally invasive surgery for the spine and brain
  • stereotactic radiosurgery (Gamma Knife and Novalis)
  • image-guided procedures for both the brain and spine

Our spectrum of interventions includes many innovative, restorative treatments with rapid return to work.

Each Patient is Unique

Surgery is not necessarily the first option, and when able, we work to treat your condition with non-invasive or minimally invasive techniques. We work closely with orthopedic surgeons, general surgeons, pain management specialists, neurologists, oncologists, and physical therapists to address your condition. Due to this multidisciplinary approach, we can offer a treatment program tailored to your condition.
